Prairie St. John’s provides inpatient, Partial Hospitalization (PHP or day treatment), and Intensive Outpatient to adults, ages 18 and older experiencing a behavioral health crisis or substance use challenges.

Adult Treatment Components

Treatment for each adult is administered by a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals led by a psychiatrist. Team members may include:

• Psychiatrists
• Nurses
• Mental Health Therapists
• Social Workers
• Activity Therapists
• Substance Abuse Counselors

The treatment process begins with a comprehensive evaluation to help diagnose any underlying medical or biochemical origins of disease. An individualized plan of care is written to meet the special needs of each patient.

• Acute Inpatient
• Outpatient Day Program (Partial Hospital Program)
• Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Use

Today, substance use disorders are recognized as life-threatening diseases and Prairie St. John’s philosophy regards them as treatable medical illnesses. Emphasis is placed on learning relapse prevention skills. Discharge meetings are held with family and, if appropriate, employers to strengthen patients on their road to recovery.

Supportive Housing

Supportive Housing is offered on Prairie St. John’s campus, a short walk away from our adult programming located in St. Genevieve’s Place. Supportive Housing is available to adults in both tracks (mental health or substance abuse) in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Individuals in Supportive Housing will reside in a furnished, shared apartment equipped with laundry and kitchen facilities. Prairie St. John’s staff are available to assist individuals in Supportive Housing when they are not in programming. Supportive Housing is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a safe and supportive environment while completing treatment.
