My decision to become a psychiatrist was influenced by a very old family tradition of helping all people. I am committed to developing practical multidisciplinary approaches to improving the quality and delivery of health care to my patients. Whenever possible, my aim is to educate my patients not only about mental health care but also about basic health topics.

I emphasize working together inter-professionally with behavioral health and medical providers to treat each patient, one step at a time, one day at a time.

Sarah Terpstra, PMHNP-BC, MSN

I started my career as a nurse in 2011 and entered the profession in order to help others. Over the years I have loved providing care to those in need. I have over 11 years of nursing experience with the last 4 being in mental health. As a nurse practitioner, I approach mental health in a holistic way and enjoy working together with my patients in order to provide them with the best care possible.

Sarah provides outpatient psychiatric medication management via appointment and on a walk-in basis. Call 701-476-7200 for walk-in hours or to schedule an appointment.

Sarah Abbott, MSN, AGNP-C

Mental Health/Chemical Dependency Nurse Practitioner

Sarah Abbott is a Board-certified Nurse Practitioner who graduated with her MSN in 2021. She was born and raised on a ranch in North Dakota. She currently works in the Prairie St. Johns Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). She enjoys providing care for patients struggling with mental health or substance abuse disorders, along with primary care and geriatrics. Her focus is patient-centered care, always making sure her patients have the ability to advocate for themselves. She feels it is extremely important that her patients’ feel ‘heard.’

Along with PHP, she has started seeing patients on an outpatient basis for medication management, which allows people to continue on their medications without the worry of running out of their prescriptions. Sarah can see patients via appointment or walk-in hours.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys the outdoors, interacting with animals, card games, reading and traveling.
