Prairie St John's - Chris Shiaro
Licensed Addiction Counselor
For more than 14 years, Chris Shiaro has treated patients of all ages, in both public and private sectors. Her specialties include relapse prevention, co-occurring diagnosis (mental illness and chemical dependency) and family and group therapy. Chris has provided substance abuse education and prevention training to students, faculty and staff at area colleges and universities. She also has supervised Master’s Level Social Work interns and Addiction Counselor trainees, focusing on counseling skills, case management, comprehensive assessments and individual, family and group therapy. “I am passionate about expanding my knowledge and experience to help instill hope and understanding of the illness of substance dependence to alcoholics, addicts, those with co-occurring diagnosis and their families. My special interest is in providing gender-specific education and counseling to females who have been traumatized by generational addictions and abuse.” A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Chris enjoys gardening, pets, exercise, collecting Asian furniture and antiques, golf, travel, cultural activities and time with family and friends.
